RETIREMENT OF FINANCIAL DIRECTOR
Shareholders are advised that Mr David John O'Neill (78) has retired as Financial Director of
Labat Africa Limited with immediate effect due to reasons of ill health.
On behalf of the Board, shareholders, and management of Labat Africa Limited, it is with a
mixture of gratitude and sincere appreciation that we formally acknowledge your
retirement from the position of Financial Director, effective upon your decision to step down
for reasons of ill health.
Mr O'Neill's association with Labat Africa and his broader professional career have been
nothing short of remarkable. As a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland
and a Chartered Accountant with nearly five decades of international commercial
experience, he has consistently demonstrated the highest standards of professionalism,
integrity, and sound judgement.
Throughout his tenure with Labat whether as Financial Director, Executive Director, or trusted
advisor, his depth of knowledge in finance, general management, and consulting has been
invaluable. Mr O'Neill's steady hand, analytical insight, and principled leadership have
played a meaningful role in guiding Labat through complex operational and financial
environments. His contribution has extended well beyond the technical; it has shaped the
culture of discipline, accountability, and resilience within the organisation.
The Board is particularly grateful for Mr O'Neill's continued commitment to Labat even after
stepping back from executive responsibilities in March 2024, and for his willingness to once
again assume the role of Financial Director when the Company required experience and
stability. This selfless dedication speaks volumes of his character and loyalty.
While the Company regrets that ill health necessitates his retirement at this time, the Board
fully respects and supports his decision to prioritise his well-being. Mr O'Neill leaves behind a
lasting legacy, and his contribution to Labat Africa will be remembered with respect and
appreciation.
Labat extends its heartfelt thanks for his years of exemplary service and wish him strength,
comfort, and improved health in the period ahead. It has been a privilege to work alongside
Mr O'Neill, and he will always be regarded as a valued member of the Labat Africa family.
The Board confirms that the vacancy arising from Mr O'Neill's retirement will be addressed
in accordance with the Companies Act, the Company's Memorandum of Incorporation,
and the JSE Listings Requirements.
